WHAT IS A COOKIE?<\/h2>\n

A cookie<\/em> is an innocuous<\/strong> text file that is stored in your internet browser when you visit almost any web page. The purpose of the cookie<\/em> is that the internet browser shall be able to remember your visit when you return to a web page. Although many people do not know, cookies<\/em> have been used for over 20 years, when the first internet browsers were released for the World Wide Web.<\/p>\n

C<\/em>ookies<\/em> do not usually store sensitive information about you, such as credit cards or bank details, photographs, your ID number or other personal information, etc. The information stored by a cookie is technical information, personal preferences, customisation of contents, etc.<\/p>\n

The web server does not associate the cookie to you personally, but rather to your web browser. In fact, if you habitually surf the web via Internet Explorer and you try to surf the web via Firefox or Chrome, you\u2019ll see that the web does not realise that you are the same person because in reality the cookies are associated to the internet browser, and not the person.<\/p>\n

  • Analysis cookies<\/em>: Compile information regarding the type of browsing that is being carried out, the sections that are most used, products queried, time zone in which the internet is used, language, etc.<\/li>\n
  • Advertising cookies<\/em>: Display advertising depending upon internet browsing activities, the country of origin, language, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    WHAT ARE PRIVATE COOKIES<\/em> AND THIRD PARTY COOKIES?<\/h3>\n

    Private cookies are the cookies that are generated by the website that you are browsing and third party cookies are the cookies that are generated by external services or suppliers such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc.<\/p>\n
